I am not one to leave comments but I HAD to. I am speechless. What the hell?!? I'm so confused. Lane and I watched that together. It's unbelievable. Wow. It reminds me of New Life but waaaay more extreme. And that's why I hate New Life... the freaking dancers...

i'm not sure. wait. i didn't even know this existed in churches.

at first i thought the guy was all alone and that was weird enough, and then i realized he wasn't alone...and well. i don't know what to say about that now. i'm in shock i guess.

"if" Jesus? That was him dancing!

so i thought this was a video of a miley cyrus concert or something equally distasteful...then i finally made out the word "jesus" a few times and realized it was even worse...

thanks for showing this though, i seriously had NO idea there were even things like this going on in "christian" circles. when i was growing up, my mom wouldn't even let me listen to amy grant after she caught me making my barbies dance to it...it was too "worldly"...HA!

yes its a little extreme, and not my chosen style of worship. just because people choose to worship differently doesn't mean they should be poked fun at... forgive me if thats not the point of this blog... I think Jesus would take more offense to the posting of this blog and these comments than to dancing going on at this church as form of praise and worship. how dare you judge how someone else chooses to worship? disgusting.

if i didn't know how these people conducted the rest of their lives, i wouldn't judge them based on their "worship". .. and i still dont judge them based on their worship. i judge them based on their actions.... their worship is just outrageous on top of it. and i feel fine saying out loud that it isn't ok for churches to say they want to "love" like jesus and then build huge buildings using tons of money, or buying fog machines and special light sensors to 'set the mood' as they put it for worship. if you're going to say you ARE living like someone, then live like them. not like the opposite of them. jesus didn't have fog machines at his talks and then drive off in his hummer to his million dollar home. i would like to live like jesus because he was a really great guy, i dont believe he was god... but i think he was amazing... as far as judging, when jesus judged he judged the religious the most. .. he went into the temple and turned over tables in anger for selling things, if these people dont look like the pharasies of today, then i dont know who does. i didn't put this up to 'laugh' at it, although that is the natural reaction (esp when you know these people) but i dont agree that jesus would be more annoyed at my putting a video up to bring light to an ugly situation and see what others had to say than he would be at people who alienate all who dont agree with them, yell at people calling them ungodly, want to make 'one church' that covers all of california (basically taking over other churchs), buy fog machines and light sensors to set the mood for their worship, and make a complete 'rock' show (that's not even good mind you) out of 'worship'... and all in Jesus name. think what you want, but i dont feel bad for one second for putting this video up and i'm sorry you feel its so disgusting but i find it disgusting to make a mockery of a man who lived such a love filled life and then say its for him.

and the reason i said that that's where jesus would be is because one of them said that to me "i know if jesus was here, he would come to my church" i'm sorry, i'm pretty sure jesus wouldn't be choosing a denomination and going to a modern american church if he came... i'm pretty sure he'd do what he did in the bible and hang out with the people those places reject..... and not only is that outrageous to say in general but especially when you do the opposite of what jesus did every day.

you may disagree with me, but this is my very strong opinion on something i feel is morally wrong and i'm not taking that back.

I didn't mention this before, but I think it's worth saying now.

Worship in churches, especially in America have become, exactly as Skylana put it, rock concerts. Having back up dancers and guitar solos during a "worship" service isn't leading worship to God, or Jesus, it's leading worship to the performers. It's great that God gave people talents, and skill, but creating such a production for a church service is crazy.

One other thing that erks me about modern American christianity is the fact that "worship" songs are now 3 pages long with different words every verse and every chorus.

Tell me. How do you worship, truly worship your creator when you're constantly looking at the words on a screen or enthralled with the back up dancers on stage?

And one last thing. In regards to the fact that people "feel" like God has touched them during a service like in the video.

We all want to experience God as being real and a lot of the time we equate an emotional response with God "touching" us. But I'm sorry... powerful speeches, swelling music, excitement from the crowd, these things cause goosebumps, emotions, sometimes tears. But please do not be fooled into thinking this is God.

Typically, one of the only reasons we would ever even think it was God much less assume it wholeheartedly and not even question it is because it is in a church and frankly, most people don't go other places where these same emotions would crop up so there's no check and balance.

I agree with Skylana. Jesus wouldn't show up in a place like the one depicted in the video and if he did, I'm pretty sure he would turn of the dance music and the fog machine and send the back up dancers home.
