one more try

alright guys... i love you all to death, well i don't know if that's really true, but i at least am glad you read and sometimes respond... anyway, point is, despite that love or gladness your book suggestions weren't the most helpful. i have been bookless for a little over two weeks and its been hell. i've tried atlas shrugged, i've tried anna karenina, i've tried the secret history, and its all too much.

a few people i know have been reading these 'sookie stackhouse' novels... and at first i thought they just seemed super lame. (i'm not saying i've changed my mind) but.... that's the exact thought i had about twilight and look at me now, still in love after a year, with no one and no book making as big of an impression. so... i'm starting.

i hope theres enough superficial shit, drama and sex to keep me going. because that's what i like in a good read. unless i'm looking for religion or science.

I started reading this series because I watch True Blood. Read the first book and had mixed feelings about it. Read the next two and I like them so far. So different from the Twilight series (which I loved as well) but good on another level. I love the show so I guess I'm biased.

i have the first one but haven't read it yet myself...at first i thought the show was lame but it grew on me so i thought the books might actually be even better - it usually works that way...let me know what you think of the book so i'll know if i should definitely make time for it...

I read the books first, then tried to watch the show. The books are MUCH better I think. Not that they are amazing, just compared to the show. If you are looking for "superficial shit, drama and sex" you won't be disappointed. I wasn't too convinced with the first book either, but by the time I got to the end, I wanted to read the next and the next. I think I read all 9 in 5 days. They're lame but entertaining.

true blood is the best show ever. its my favorite-and im normally a weeds girl. havent read the books but im sure they will be at least entertaining since the show is so creepy/awesome. if u dont have hbo, try downloading. it will be worth ur while.
p.s. it is nothing like twilight. twilight is a romantic story geared toward the adolescent ideal of love and forbidden temptation. true blood is for adults. period.
p.p.s. i still think u should try sophies world as well.

if you're looking for drama, sex, religion, AND murder you should check out "under the banner of heaven" by jon krakauer.

it's basically a half and half book kind of like "the devil in the white city." half of it goes into depth explaining mormon fundamentalism which is something i thought i knew about but realized i knew nothing about it and was quite frankly shocked at most of it.

the other half talks about a mormon fundamentalist who murders his sister in law and her baby because the lord told him to. it was the first book i've read in a long time where i wanted to read it all in one sitting, but also had to take a lot of breaks at each chapter because it was so intense...

as a blog lurker i feel like i "know" you well enough to say you'd enjoy this read.
